Maria Velia Simone is a contemporary artist, she lives art as an expression and research of herself and to share with others
She creates works that want to give the feeling of being alive, so that the viewer’s experience is at the same time close to fantasy and reality; in this way new pieces of worlds can become part of personal experiences and fantasies.
The ‘vitality’ of the work, which touches deeply, creates an intimate interaction where the exploration of the work does not end at the moment of viewing, but evolves with the viewer over time.
Her works are an invitation to be part of the freedom that the artist experiences in their creation. Art is experienced as a space of discovery, without limits or rules, where anything can happen.
The direct reference to nature, which is central to her works, is intended to lead to an approach to nature, to the discovery of its inexhaustible beauty and richness. Through it we can reach the most primitive state in which everyone can understand its essence, their own sense of life and things.
A self-taught abstract artist, she began painting at the age of 14. She lives in Rome and is also a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. Her scientific, psychological and artistic studies have influenced and enriched each other over the years. She uses mainly acrylic on canvas or wood with other materials such as pumice stone, continuing her research and experimentation over time.
